Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

Yes! I am currently paneled with Lyra, Aetna and Cigna insurance companies.

What if I have a different insurance?

That would make us an “out of network provider” according to your insurance meaning we are not contracted with your insurance and reimbursement is not guaranteed unless specifically outlined in your policy. We can, however, provide you with a super bill that you can submit to your insurance for possible partial reimbursement. If you are hoping to be reimbursed for counseling, we encourage you to call your insurance directly to inquire about your out of network coverage before beginning services with me.

How much do you charge for a therapy session if no insurance or a different insurance?

My rate for a 1 hour therapy session is $150.

What is your cancellation policy?

All appointments canceled less than 24 hours from the scheduled appointment time will be billed at the full fee.

What benefits can I expect from working with a therapist?

Therapists can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, body image issues and creative blocks.

What is a typical therapy appointment?

The therapist will ask questions about your presenting concerns, as well as your history and background. Most likely, you'll find yourself talking about your current symptoms or struggles, as well saying a bit about your relationships, your interests, your strengths, and your goals.

Will I be 'cured' after receiving a certain number of therapy sessions?

Every person along with their background, life circumstances and challenges can be so different. While there may not be a definitive answer to a patient feeling cured after a certain number of sessions, therapy can assist you in improving the quality of your life. You may find yourself being able to calm your worrying mind, identify negative self-talk, find resolutions in your relationships, feel more motivated about your future, and process past trauma. Therapy can be a continued resource which you can access in different stages of your life as you need it.

What does a typical intake (first) appointment with you look like?

I will ask questions about your presenting concerns, as well as your history and background. Most likely, you'll find yourself talking about your current symptoms or struggles, as well saying a bit about your relationships, your interests, your strengths, and your goals. This will help me understand what your current needs, stressors, goals and strengths are.

How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?

Treatment planning is a very collaborative process in which I work along with my client to understand their individual needs, strengths, obstacles and goals. I work with my clients on making realistic and sustainable goals for therapy, and actively partner with them to assist them in achieving them.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I incorporate client-centered and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support my clients. The combination of safety, therapeutic rapport, and applicable therapy interventions can change lives. I care about my client's story and am here to listen, unravel and process with them. I can support my clients in empowering themselves through building their skills toolbox, which they can continue to use outside of the therapy sessions, and for years to come.

If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?

I want people to know that it's okay to feel hesitant about therapy! Finding a good therapy fit can be a big indicator for a successful treatment journey. Therefore, please feel free to interview your potential new therapist to determine if they are a good fit. Therapy can be an empowering experience once you find the right fit for yourself. Try to see if therapy works for you, and if it doesn't that's also ok!

What is the “Good Faith Estimate”?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
